Go Green

EnerQuality Green Building conducted a survey of the GTA & Ottawa areas in October 2010, in order to capture a glimpse into consumer attitudes and behaviour when it comes to energy efficiency and the idea of ‘green’. Their findings were interesting to say the least;

  • 88% of those surveyed valued energy efficiency when making their new home purchase
  • Cost savings was the #1 reason cited for why energy efficiency is important, especially among first time home buyers.
  • 37% were in fact already purchasing Energy Efficient Certified Home

With this in mind, it goes without saying that the demand for more energy efficient homes have risen considerably since, and so with it the push from our local governments towards a more sustainable future.  In Ontario, we are a bit behind the curve and builders who offer Green Certifications are not as plentiful as other provinces or forward thinking states in the U.S. However, it’s important to remember that even the smallest of steps taken can contribute to the overall success of energy savings and sustainable living.

Whether you are buying and renovating, or undertaking a new building project, there are so many options and ways in which you too can contribute to the movement towards sustainable living! For more information, click on the links below.
